About "The Unpaid Intern"
Yep. We made him a whole page.

Hi everyone, I'm Yann!
After two years of listening to
Michelle's plans to dominate change the world, I decided to hop onboard and try
my hand at helping expand WeCultivate’s media side. Let's
be clear – these waters are completely new to me, but I dove in
headfirst at the end of 2024 and am still learning (with great enthusiasm and sometimes fear!) how to
keep up with the current.
Most days I am deep inside the world of podcast transcriptions and helping with the back-end of... whatever Michelle adds to my task list. But all jokes aside, as a non-native English speaker myself, it’s really exciting to be in this with all of you—brainstorming, learning, and growing together. After all, we’re all part of this think-tank of ideas, creativity, and connection. Every piece of content, every discussion, and every insight helps build something meaningful. Isn't that more of what our world needs today?
My job title might not come with a paycheck, but it does come with unlimited coffee ☕ (if I make it, obviously) and non-stop professional skills development.
Some fun facts about me
Well I don't know if they are "fun" but this is what Michelle says I should call them.
Originally from: A tiny town in the French countryside. Far far away from Belle and Ratatouille.
Professional life: Has spanned many things – sailing instructor, basketball coach, children’s programming director, French Postal Service
I am: Open-minded, curious about the world, eager to
explore and discuss new perspectives. Also nicer and more patient than
Michelle most days.
Currently learning: How to do everything
technology-related. It’s an exciting world with so much to offer, and though I have a lot to catch up on, I’m motivated by the possibilities these tools can bring!
On language and communication: Though I am not formally trained to work in languages, I have had to navigate my own way through them just as much as anyone else.
For example: When I worked as a sailing instructor, my clients/students were from different countries and spoke different languages. Trying to clearly communicate extremely important, often life-saving maneuvers, without a single language in common was a huge challenge, but I learned so much from the experience.
On the English language: Like many people, I did not develop my English abilities through the classroom. I learned my first English words through music (THANK YOU Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, as well as my parents who introduced them to me!). I briefly got a taste of "foreigner life" when I was in my early twenties, in the middle of then-ruthless London, England, where I went door to door asking for a job with my rudimentary English skills. The experience was extremely harsh, but it opened my eyes to a new world. It's where I learned how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable in a language that is not my mother tongue. (Since Michelle has been in my life, and as a multicultural couple, another dimension of the English language has opened up as well. Especially my ears. She talks very quickly. Now, WeCultivate is the latest step on this journey!)
